In January, Hutchison Water International Holdings Pte. Limited owns 49% of the Sorek desalination plant located in Israel. The Sorek plant is a 150 million cubic meters per year reverse osmosis sea water desalination plant, and is one of the world's leading plants of its kind.

In October, a consortium led by Cheung Kong Infrastructure Holdings Limited (CKI) has completed the acquisition of Northumbrian Water Group plc (Northumbrian). The consortium's members include CKI, Cheung Kong (Holdings) Limited and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. Northumbrian operates a water supply, sewerage and waste water business in the United Kingdom.
In October, Hutchison Port Holdings has signed an agreement with Ajman Port Authority that paves the way for the development and operation of Ajman Port for a concession period of 10 years in the United Arab Emirates.
