PARKnSHOP launches Hong Kong's
first supermarket magazine

(19th November 2001) PARKnSHOP today announces the launch of a new lifestyle magazine for customers.

The publishing initiative is the first of its kind in the Hong Kong supermarket industry.

PARKnSHOP Magazine is to be launched tomorrow 20th November 2001.

The initial print-run will be 600,000 with distribution only through the chain's 200 supermarkets and superstores in Hong Kong and Macau. Customers will receive a free copy of the magazine with any purchase of HK$100 or over. With purchases under HK$100 customers can redeem the magazine at HK$10.

PARKnSHOP Magazine aims to be a "lifestyle magazine for modern living" for the contemporary Hong Kong mother and housewife.

Published every two months in Chinese, it will be packed with articles on recipes and cooking, health, beauty tips, parenting, homecare and new products.

"PARKnSHOP Magazine is launched in response to our customers' needs. As the leading food retailer in Hong Kong, we are part of people's everyday life. People look to us for advice and this magazine is an excellent opportunity for us to meet their requirements," said Logan Taylor, Chief Executive Officer of A.S. Watson Group's Food Retail Division, which operates the supermarket chain.

"It's a genuine lifestyle magazine with practical ideas and inspiration to help the smart, modern housewife and her family eat well, stay well, get advice, save time and buy smart. All in all, it's a great read."

Internationally, supermarket magazine has been one of the most successful publishing concepts in recent years.

In its latest ground-breaking initiative, Hong Kong's biggest and most innovative supermarket retailer is now introducing the concept to the SAR.

The target audience is "modern Hong Kong women" -- whether they have careers or are housewives raising a family and looking after a home -- who represent the majority of PARKnSHOP customers.

PARKnSHOP Magazine aims to help women juggling their time between kids, careers and home lives cope a little easier with the challenges of everyday living - from shopping, cooking and taking care of their homes and families to pampering themselves and maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

"We also hope our customers will find PARKnSHOP Magazine fun and entertaining," added Mr. Taylor.
