| Hong Kong - The Cheung Kong
Group took up sponsorship of another "forest" under the Hong
Kong Government Agricultural, Fisheries and Conservation Department's
Corporate Afforestation Scheme recently. This is the third "forest"
sponsored by the Group under the Scheme. Located in Shek O,
24,000 saplings are to be planted in the "forest". |

| The tree planting activity took
place last Sunday (April 9) and was attended by 150 young scouts
and their parents who are tenants of residential complexes managed
by The Cheung Kong Group. |

| Officiating at the kick-off
ceremony were Mr Victor Li, Managing Director of Cheung Kong
(Holdings) Ltd and Deputy Chairman of Hutchison Whampoa Ltd;
Mrs Lessie Wei, JP, Director of Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation
Department; Mr Bosco Fung, JP, Director of Planning Department;
Ms Mei Ng, Director of Friends of the Earth; and Ms Grace Woo,
Executive Director of Cheung Kong (Holdings) Ltd. |

| At the kick-off ceremony, Mr
Li said, "It has always been a mission of The Cheung Kong Group
to provide quality living to Hong Kong. We have recently introduced
the 'e-living' programme with the aim to make use of new technologies
to further enhance people's lifestyle in the territory. In fact
besides 'electronic living', 'environmental friendly living'
is also an item on top of our agenda." |

| The young scouts and their parents
commented that this was a very meaningful event - not only was
it a good opportunity for parent-child bonding, it also posed
a good channel for all participants to reaffirm the importance
of environmental protection. |
