| (May 29, 2002 - Hong
Kong) The Cheung Kong Group and the Hong Kong and Shanghai
Banking Corporation Ltd (HSBC) have always enjoyed a close
and cordial business relationship. Both corporations have
strong commitments towards charity projects and good causes.
HSBC and Cheung Kong have for the past two years been respectively
named the first and first runner-up on the Hong Kong Community
Chest's list of most successful fund-raising companies.
Recently, Mr David Eldon, Chairman of HSBC, took part in Community
Chest's annual fund-raising show and gave a rendition
of the song 'Islands in the Stream'. In appreciation
of Mr Eldon's outstanding performance, the Cheung Kong
Group made a donation of HK$230,000 to the Chest. It is understood
that this donation is the highest amount raised so far from
Mr Eldon's performance.
At the recently held cheque presentation ceremony, Cheung
Kong (Holdings) Limited Executive Director Mr Justin Chiu
(right in picture) presented the cheque to Mr Lincoln Yu (left),
Co-Chairman, Community for the Chest Organising Committee,
in the presence of Mr Lawrence Law, Head of Mortgages, Personal
Financial Services of HSBC (centre).
