3 launches 'Today on 3' - the first live, interactive, mobile channel

London - March 3 2004

Exactly one year after the launch of its video mobile network, 3 has announced 'Today on 3' - the UK's first live video mobile news and entertainment channel.

The new channel, which will be updated throughout the day, will showcase the latest footage available on 3, from breaking news and football goals just after they are scored to music videos and film clips.

Today on 3 has been created to give 3's customers easy access to an average of over one hour (72mins) of brand new footage each day on their video mobile, including clips from Sky Sports, MTV, Pete Tong, ITN and the Barclaycard Premiership.

Today on 3 will be available to 3's customers by pressing the triangle key on their video mobile phone.

The launch of 'Today on 3' will mark the latest evolution in mobile entertainment from 3, which in its first year has introduced video calling, video downloads, streaming and video messaging to British consumers.

With other networks in the UK offering mainly static picture and text-based services, Today on 3 represents a major step forward in mobile technology.

All 3's content has been selected and edited to fit in with mobile viewing behaviour - clips up to 8 minutes long can be streamed using 3's unique 'Quickplay' option, or downloaded, stored and replayed.

Graeme Oxby, 3's Marketing Director, said: "Today on 3 is going to bring you what you really need to know, when you need to know it - whether it's breaking news or Thierry Henry's latest goal in the Champion's League. A video mobile is the perfect way to deliver it - it's always to hand and the story is only seconds away."

Gareth Jones, Chief Operating Officer of 3 "Today on 3 represents the culmination of a year's experience of how our customers interact with our services - every day we learn more about what our customers enjoy and how and when they want to use our video content..

"Today on 3 puts this into practice - combining our leading, sports, news and entertainment content with the mobility, power and immediacy of video mobile, to create the UK's first live video mobile news and entertainment channel. But this is just the start for Today on 3: it will continue to evolve and develop, in order to meet the changing demands of our customers."

Today on 3 will be free to view, and will offer access to clips available to download or stream from 25p.
