Hutchison Telecom signs GPRS roaming agreement with China Mobile

Hong Kong, October 16, 2001 --- Hutchison Telecom announced today that it has signed a GPRS roaming agreement with China Mobile Communications Corporation ("China Mobile") to jointly develop GPRS roaming service in China, allowing users to access a variety of first-hand, up-to-the-minute information through the GPRS high speed data transmission technology and Orange Mobile Data Service.

Extending GPRS roaming service to major cities in China

Under the agreement, the two companies will join hands to provide GPRS roaming service to the major cities in China, including Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Shenzhen and other major cities. Hutchison Telecom's subscribers will be able to access the latest information and surf the Internet, harnessing the innovative and convenient GPRS high speed data transmission technology.

Committed to offering the advanced high speed data transmission services and applications, Hutchison Telecom pioneered Hong Kong's first packet data mobile service with 2.5G technology in August 2000, offering mobile users the territory's fastest data transmission speeds of up to 64kbps. In August 2001, the Company offered the territory's first GPRS handset with Kjava applications, as well as GPRS and IS95B roaming services.
