Hutchison Delta Ports equipped for port development

[3 January 2002 - Hong Kong] Hutchison Delta Ports (HDP) has purchased new terminal equipment for port development. On 21 December 2001, five Rubber Tyred Gantry Cranes (RTGCs) were delivered to Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT) and two to Nanhai International Container Terminals (NICT) on 2 January 2002. The cranes were purchased from Shanghai Zhenhua Port Machinery Co. Ltd. and each has a lifting capacity of 41 tons.

In addition, two quay cranes will be ready on site for service at XICT in mid January. Each quay crane will have an outreach length of 52 metres and a lifting capacity of 41 tons. The cranes were purchased from Shanghai Port Machinery Plant.

Xiamen International Container Terminals (XICT) coastal port is a joint venture between Hutchison Delta Ports (HDP) and Xiamen Haicang Ports Company. Situated at Haicang in the Xiamen Special Economic Zone in Fujian, it has been in operation since 1997 and is part of the HDP network, currently comprising three coastal and three river ports in South China.

Nanhai International Container Terminals (NICT) river port is a joint venture between Hutchison Delta Ports (HDP) and Nanhai Municipal Transport Construction Investment Company. Located on the northern reaches of the Pearl River Delta, it has been in operation since 1994 and is part of the HDP network, currently comprising three coastal and three river ports in South China.

Both XICT and NICT are members of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), the world's leading port investor, developer and operator with interests in 15 countries throughout Asia, Africa, Europe and the Americas. Today, HPH operates a total of 29 ports together with a number of transportation related service companies.
