Hutchison Telecom today announces the launch of Orange MMS that promises delivery of the richest content in town via Orange's GSM/GPRS network and multimedia messaging platform. Along with offering the most extensive content, Orange MMS pioneers the Asia-first MMS charging scheme that calculates charges based on per-message and sending-party-pay principles, boasts the largest number of unique applications, and provides the widest roaming coverage. Orange MMS brings a fascinating mobile multimedia experience for both MMS users and non-MMS users. Its unique "Photo Album" allows MMS users to store personal photos on the web, and users can also enjoy one-stop-shop photography service for photo-taking, storage and film development. Non-MMS Handset Support will soon be introduced as the first-of-its-kind service in Hong Kong to allow non-MMS users to browse MMS via Internet.

"The launch of Orange MMS represents a new milestone in the mobile multimedia development of Hutchison Telecom. We offer both MMS and non-MMS users the best and most fascinating MMS experience in terms of content, applications, charging method and roaming coverage. We believe Orange MMS can further stimulate the demand for mobile data service, laying an important foundation for our third-generation mobile development," said Agnes Nardi, Managing Director of Hutchison Telecom.

Asia-first per-message and sending-party-pay tariffing

To further stimulate interest in MMS, Hutchison Telecom announces the launch of the Asia-first MMS charging scheme that calculates charges based on per-message and sending-party-pay principles. This is the simplest, fairest and most economical tariffing that allows users to enjoy great savings compared with existing schemes which charge them based on data volume. Orange MMS charges senders as low as HK$3 per message* on top of a small monthly fee of HK$9. Apart from HK$9 monthly service fee, recipients are not required to pay for retrieving the MMS via handset.

Unique and personalized "Photo Album" service

Dedicated to leading the territory's MMS development, Hutchison Telecom introduces Hong Kong's first-of-its-kind "Photo Album" service. This is a unique service that enables users to send pictures to their personal "Photo Album" at www.orangehk.com for storage, browsing and sharing moments of joy with friends under the "Gallery Area". Users can download photos from "Photo Album" and save them as wallpaper and caller number display graphics in their mobile phones.

With the exclusive "Photo Album Online Printing Service" jointly offered by Hutchison Telecom and Fotomax, users can also enjoy one-stop-shop photography service comprising photo-taking, storage and film development. All printouts can be collected at any Fotomax outlet.

Non-MMS Handset Support for non-MMS users to browse MMS on web

Hutchison Telecom will offer Non-MMS Handset Support as the first-of-its-kind service in Hong Kong for non-MMS users. This unique service will enable mobile users who do not subscribe multimedia messaging services to browse MMS via Internet. The mechanism is simple: when the non-MMS user receives a MMS, a SMS message will appear on his/her handset notifying him/her to go to a designated website and enter a given log-in name and password to browse the MMS.

Partnering with prestigious content providers to deliver the richest MMS content

Hutchison Telecom has joined forces with various prestigious international and local content providers, including Sanrio, So-net, Ori-sun.com and Hallmark to offer the widest selection of content in town, covering over 70 choices of character MMS, animated MMS, celebrity photos, soccer star photos and other lovely images. Users can download these images from Orange's WAP-based MMS library via their MMS handsets, or from MMS library at www.orangehk.com, then sending to their friends' MMS handsets or email accounts.

Allow users to send and receive MMS while travelling overseas with Orange most extensive GPRS roaming service coverage

Hutchison Telecom partners with the largest number of network operators to provide Orange users with the widest MMS roaming coverage that includes China (Beijing, Shenyang, Fuzhou, Guangzhou, Taiwan and Macau), Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand and the UK. This allows Orange users to send and receive MMS while travelling overseas.
