Albert Park will be one large local call area for the OrangeArrows and the Holden Racing Teams this year.

The sister race teams and Holden Special Vehicles (HSV), under the guidance of Principal Tom Walkinshaw, will be using Orange One phones for the duration of the Grand Prix. Orange has established the entire Albert Park track as a LocalZone area so both teams will be making untimed local calls instead of being charged mobile rates.

John Crennan, head of HSV said: "Mobile phones are an everyday business tool for us, and even more so at such a busy time as the Australian Formula One Grand Prix. Having Albert Park as an entire LocalZone will mean both teams benefit during this critical time."

In Australia HSV along with the Holden Racing Team are keen to take the Orange concept further. They plan to implement Orange One wirefree technology at their new state-of-the-art facilities in Clayton, Victoria, when it opens later this year.

"Orange is at the forefront of wirefree communications worldwide and this fits in well with our operations in Australia where we use technology to stay a step ahead," said John.

Tom Walkinshaw said: "We're in one of the most highly technical and specialist areas of motor sport and we're used to cutting edge technology. So when a world first like Orange One presents itself to us here in Australia, we're keen to take it on board. Using a mobile phone to make untimed local calls is an amazing achievement and we'll certainly be looking to incorporate Orange One into our HSV and HRT business in the future."
