Reebok signs LINE partnership

HONG KONG (15 May 2001): LINE - Logistics Information Network Enterprise Limited and Reebok International Limited have entered into a partnership arrangement to jointly design, develop and pilot a supplier portal to address the unique requirements of the footwear and apparel industry.

LINE's solution, the Order Visibility Application (OVA), will allow Reebok to unlock value in its supply chain by linking its manufacturers, logistics service providers, and other business partners through an e-hub. OVA is an Internet-based solution comprising event management, work-flow processing and auto messaging, delivering the latest in supply chain technology.

Reebok has selected LINE to increase purchase order visibility throughout its global supply chain. This will lead to reduced costs, provide better access to information at critical points in the supply chain and improve levels of customer service throughout the organization.

LINE is the e-logistics division of Hutchison Port Holdings (HPH), the world's leading private port operator with more than 30 years' experience in the logistics and port sector.

Through the port network of HPH and Hutchison Whampoa, Reebok will be able to leverage the considerable benefits of Hutchison's global business network, specifically in China and throughout Asia.

LINE CEO Aaron Mak said: "We are very pleased that LINE and Reebok are working together on this groundbreaking project. Reebok has a reputation as an innovator in the footwear and apparel sector and we are looking forward to jointly developing OVA to provide a world-class solution for the whole industry."

Reebok vice-president of MIS and chief technology officer Peter W. Burrows added: "We are very excited to be working with LINE to help fulfill our vision of a twenty first century supply chain. Their OVA product complements and extends our SAP based supply chain backbone very nicely. LINE's coverage and experience in port operations and international logistics gives Reebok a capable partner on the ground to help integrate our key suppliers in the Asia Pacific region."
