Games are now in Hutchison 3G's pocket

Hutchison3G announces its game plan for content

Hutchison 3G today announced partnerships with nine games development companies; iFone (http://www.ifone.com), It's Alive (http://www.itsalive.com), Supedo (http://www.supedo.co.uk), nGame (http://www.ngame.com), Codetoys (http://www.codetoys.com), Simian Industries (http://www.simianindustries.com), Morpheme (http://www.morpheme.co.uk), Cheeky Wireless (http://www.cheekywireless.com) and Purple Software (http://www.purplesoft.com). These agreements cover the supply of over forty games, to all international markets where Hutchison Whampoa has 3G interests. Many of the interactive games will be written and developed exclusively for Hutchison 3G; others will be improved versions of existing games.

Lisa Gernon, strategy and marketing director at Hutchison 3G commented: "3G offers an exciting new gaming platform for everyone's pocket. Hutchison 3G is focused on offering quality content in this new format and this is why we have carefully selected partners with the expertise and creativity to deliver compelling gaming experiences."

Joe Dever, head of games at Hutchison 3G, will be at E3, Los Angeles, 21-23 May 2002. If you would like to discuss any of the partnerships outlined above, or would like to arrange a meeting, please contact Firefly on hutchisonprteam@fireflycomms.com, or call +44 (0)20 7386 1595.

About Hutchison 3G

3G is a convergence of media, information and telephony which enables people to access information and entertainment services on the move. The 3G standard (agreed throughout Europe, Japan, China, and the rest of Asia) is formally known as UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System). It represents a global standard for third generation communication systems and is at the heart of the Hutchison 3G initiative.

Hutchison 3G UK Ltd. ("Hutchison 3G") holds licence 'A' (a third-generation licence), which was issued by the UK government in May 2000. This licence was for the largest block of spectrum auctioned in the UK, as it was set-aside for a new entrant to the market. The licence consists of 15MHz of paired spectrum, and 5MHz of unpaired spectrum.

Hutchison Whampoa Limited holds a 65 per cent stake in Hutchison 3G, the other major shareholders are NTT DoCoMo (20 per cent) KPN Mobile (15 per cent).
